4 Must have summer eyeshadows

June 11, 2012

I may not like hot summer days, but I do like the fresh, playful vibe that summer invokes. There’s something about the season that makes easy-breezy outfits, beachy waves and funky makeup looks A-OK. So I like to get into the spirit of things by shaking up my makeup bag. Yes, this means exploring something other than natural eye shadow palettes and putting your go-to lipstick away (at least for now.) This summer, there’s plenty of pretty picks for sassy eye shadows. Here are a few favorites.

Nars Ramatuelle

Sure, some summery eye shadows are bright and bold, but the Nars Ramatuelle eye shadow palette is sweet, subtle and oh-so-summery. The eye shadow trio features a silver shade, “Ice peach” and Apricot color that create a natural summer look with just the right amount of sheen. We love this look with glowing cheeks and a super shiny lipgloss.

MAC “Hey, Sailor!”

Leave it to MAC Cosmetics to come up with a cheeky summer collection called, “Hey, Sailor!” to appease our summer makeup wants. It’s a limited edition collection, out May 24, with 38 pieces for eyes, lips, cheeks and, of course, your face. We’re crushing on the Jaunty, Barefoot and Feeling Fresh eye shadow pots that have just the right amount of shimmer and come in sailor-themed blue-and-white-striped packaging.

Too Faced Summer Eye

No quirky names here, Too Faced named their summer 2012 limited edition eye shadow palette simply, “Summer Eye”. There are nine coordinating eye shadows in the collection to create three different looks. The shadows vary from pale pinks and bronze to chocolate and even a “Mermaid” shade (a deep sea green.) Like all of Too Faced’s eye shadow collections, the palette comes with cards to show you how to create each look. And the eye shadow finishes also vary and include shimmery, glitter and metallic sheens.

Christian Dior Croisette Collection

Summer eye shadows typically mean fun, vibrant colors and that’s exactly what Christian Dior’s Croisette Collection entails. The line includes two 5-color eye shadow palettes we love. “Swimming Pool” has shades exactly what it sounds like, a swimming pool! The inspiration for the palette was a dive in the Mediterranean sea and the colors include coral and sky blue shades. For a sun-kissed bronze look, the “Aurora” palette may be more to your liking with gold, beige, bronze and brown colors.
