You’re trapped on a deserted island, what do you bring?

April 25, 2012

Recently (after watching too much reality TV obviously), I started wondering– if I was stranded on a deserted island what makeup basics would I hope to have with me? I know what some of you are thinking – it’s a deserted island, so who cares? Well, apparently I do. I I’m assuming that I would be saved at some point and I would want to be looking strikingly beautiful in the rescue photos. Come on; I know I’m not the only one who thinks about these things. Anyways, this is what I came up with.

So, while it’s totally not an exciting product, the first item I would want to have is my Maybelline Coverstick concealer. I wish I had perfect skin, but since I don’t, concealer is one of my best friends. It hides the occasional blemish and also covers my horribly dark under-eye circles. Don’t want those showing through during the media coverage.

Now, as I’ve mentioned before I am incredibly pale, so the next thing I would hope to have is some cream blush. I know you might assume this would be unnecessary because I’d pick up some color while trapped on the island, but you’d be wrong. I once went to Hawaii for two weeks and came home the exact same color. With my Mark Just Pinched Spicy Blush Tint I could fake a healthy flush that would leave everyone scrambling to figure out how they could get my ‘trapped on a deserted island glow’.

Of course, I couldn’t be without an amazing lip gloss. I always have lip gloss on me, so I can’t imagine the island would be any different. I’m thinking maybe something in a sheer coraly shade (Clinique Cabana Crush Long Last Glosswear would do the trick) to complement my rugged surroundings.

Then, I would have to create some devastating long eyelashes with my Covergirl Lashblast. I love mascara. I have thick lashes, but they are very short. I hate going out without giving my lashes a coat or two. My ‘natural’ island look just wouldn’t be complete without some mascara.

So that’s my list. If there is ever the possibility of me being stranded on a deserted island I will know which products to grab on my way out the door. It might seem like a silly daydream, but it’s actually a good thing to think about. It allows you to figure out which products are your essentials for those times when you need to get out the door in a hurry or to pack lightly.

What would your deserted island ‘must haves’ be?
